Guitarist Sam Marabella from Sweatin' Like Nixon

Two Buffalo musicians have teamed to present "Concerts for a Cause," a monthly series dedicated to benefit various Buffalo organizations. Singer/songwriter Matt Surowiec, owner of Tricentennial Music, and Sweatin' Like Nixon guitarist and Broadway Joe's owner Sam Marabella have pegged Literacy Volunteers of America, Buffalo and Erie County Chapter, as the recipient of the first concert's proceeds.

On Sunday, Hillary, the Highway Beautiful, InaDaze and Dee & the Housecats will team up for a bill inside Broadway Joe's, 3051 Main St., beginning at 6 p.m. In addition to the artists' performances, the event will feature food, contests and various special guests.

The $5 admission fee will go directly to Literacy Volunteers to aid in the nonprofit organization's quest to improve the skills of adults and train volunteers as reading and writing tutors.
